OUR HISTORY

1956

Founded on Coleman Street, The Outboard & Marine Co. was first established by the late Mr. Chew Ow Kiat and his partner as a trading company, marking the beginning of a long-standing legacy in Singapore’s marine and equipment industry.

1965

With the succession of Mr. Chew’s sons, The Outboard & Marine Co. was incorporated and renamed OUTBOARD & MARINE PTE LTD. The new leadership steered the company toward growth, focusing initially on the marine industry before broadening into other specialized equipment sectors.

1965 – 1980s

Capitalizing on Southeast Asia’s agricultural boom, we expanded our footprint across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei – introducing quality equipment from trusted global suppliers to meet the region’s growing demand for reliable solutions.

1980 – 2000s

We expanded our product range to serve the forestry, public health, cleaning, and landscape maintenance industries.

Rayco was founded in 1978 in Wooster, Ohio, by John M. Bowling, who as the owner of a tree care service identified the unique needs of the tree and landscape industry and began to build equipment to meet and surpass those needs. Today the company is dedicated to the design and production of an incredibly innovative line of environmental equipment with a range of options to suit any-sized job and budget. The current range of Rayco products includes: stump cutters, crawler trucks, forestry mulchers, and an aerial trimmer. Rayco Manufacturing was acquired by Morbark, LLC in November 2017.
